Federal designation to help Port of Fernandina efficiently move cargo and alleviate truck traffic
August 5, 2019 - The U.S. Department of Transportation designated the Port of Fernandina as an operator on its American Marine Highway, an action that will help move truck traffic off congested area roads and onto local waterways. The designation, which was announced Tuesday, July 30 by Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao, also makes the Port eligible for federal funds. M-95 Fernandina Beach to Charleston Barge Service will help the Port of Fernandina in Nassau County, the northernmost county on the Atlantic coast in Florida, service all coastal seaports on the Atlantic, including Charleston, SC, and contribute to the reduction of truck traffic on I-95.

Town of Callahan Awards Residential Contract to Meridian Waste
June 18, 2019 - Meridian Waste, an integrated, non-hazardous solid waste services company, was awarded its first Florida residential solid waste services contract by the Town of Callahan at last night’s Town Council meeting. After a lengthy discussion regarding service options, current service quality and cost-effective options for the citizens, Meridian Waste’s proposal was selected in favor of the incumbent’s proposal.

April 23, 2019 - Raydient Places + Properties announced that KinderCare® Learning Centers is building a more than 10,000-sq. ft. early childhood education and care facility in Wildlight, the new town under development in Nassau County. April 4, 2019 - Nassau County is reviewing plans for two projects near Wildlight – the Wildlight Marketplace and the Baptist Medical Village. And the St. Johns River Water Management District is reviewing an application for the St. Clare Early Learning Center by the Diocese of St. Augustine in Wildlight. The marketplace and Baptist projects are proposed south of Florida A1A from Rayonier Inc.’s Wildlight residential, business and retail center at northeast A1A and Interstate 95.
