The Nassau County School District ranked fourth statewide in overall performance by the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) and earned the highest percentage of “A” school grades statewide.

Nassau County School District’s graduation rate for the 2016-17 school year is 90.9%, which ranks second highest in the state. By comparison, Florida’s graduation rate is 82.3%.
Nassau led the state with the lowest drop-out rate in 2011-12 at 0.2%. Nassau recorded the second lowest drop-out rate statewide in 2012-13 and 2013-14 at 0.3% and 0.7%, respectively.

The Nassau County School District is accredited district-wide through AdvanceEd as determined in the most recent Quality Assurance Review in May 2011 and is one of the first three districts in the state to be awarded district-wide accreditation through the current process.

Some recent accomplishments include:

  • 1,119 industry certifications earned by students in career education programs
  • 47 AP scholars, scholars with honor and scholars with distinction
  • 5363 college credits earned by 665 Nassau students through Dual Enrollment at Florida State College at Jacksonville. 
  • Teachers of the Year - The district has produced a Florida Teacher of the Year and three other top five finalists in the past eight years, demonstrating our commitment to having high-quality teachers in our schools.
  • Recognized by the Florida Department of Education as one of only five districts in the state that improved in all seven areas of the FCAT assessment in 2014.
  • 5363 college credits earned by 665 Nassau students through Dual Enrollment at Florida State College


Reaching Higher

The Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) - Nassau campus is part of FSCJ’s system of five campuses  located throughout Duval and Nassau County within short commuting distances from each other.  FSCJ offers baccalaureate degrees as well as a wide array of college transfer A.A. degrees, over 80 A.S. degrees,  numerous work certification programs and specialized training for industry.

Florida State College at Jacksonville and the Nassau County School District partnered to build the Lewis “Red” Bean Technical Center located on the FSCJ Betty P. Cook Nassau Center campus.  The 90,000 sq.ft. facility is home to state-of-the-art computer and technology labs and classrooms and is utilized for high school dual enrollment, career certification courses, Quick Response Training (QRT) programs and continuing education programs.  The Nassau County Economic Development Board in cooperation with the Nassau County School District and private industries (WestRock, Rayonier Advanced Materials, Florida Machine Works, ALM Technologies) from Nassau County has formed the Advanced Manufacturing/Manufacturing Industry Advisory Council.  The work of the council resulted in the creation of a High School Manufacturing Academy at Hilliard.
