Meet Jeanevette Miranda

We're excited to launch a new series of profiles highlighting Nassau County, Florida women in manufacturing. We recently sat down with Jeanevette Miranda, a senior fiberline optimization engineer with Rayonier Advanced Materials in Fernandina Beach.
Jeanevette has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico.
Tell me about your job:
As an optimization engineer, I work with different teams and new available technology to improve our processes in such a manner that quality is met while reducing costs and improving efficiencies.
What do you love about manufacturing?
The opportunity to create something that makes our everyday lives better.
What would you tell girls who want to go into manufacturing?
Go for it! We have great and diverse ideas to offer the manufacturing industry.
What do you see as the future of manufacturing?
We need more trade school opportunities for young men and women.Careers in cybersecurity will also play an important role.
Why is manufacturing cool?
It allows you to create things we use everyday.
Have you seen the presence of women in manufacturing improve?
There has been some improvement, but there are still gaps mainly due to the perception of less family-friendly flexibility that exists in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields.
