UF partners to bring healthcare facilities to Nassau master-planned community

September 19, 2017

A master-planned development in Nassau County has partnered with the University of Florida to build a national model for healthier communities, including the area's first health care facility.

Raydient Places + Properties is developing Wildlight at east of Interstate 95 along State Road A1A where it plans to build 1,000 homes across about 260 acres plus nearly 350 acres of permanently preserved open space in its initial phase.

The first step in the partnership with UF will see development of a urgent care facility staffed with emergency medicine facility from the university. There will also be primary care services and an imaging center offered at the facility.

The facility will be along A1A near Interstate 95, according to a statement.

“We intend to build on our already substantial presence in Northeast Florida to not only keep the body healthy for Wildlight and Northeast Florida residents, but also to contribute to an environment that promotes better health in mind, spirit and social connectivity," said Dr. David S. Guzick, senior vice president for health affairs at UF and president of UF Health.

Construction of the facility is scheduled to start in 2018.

Other facilities in the planning stages include a fitness and lifestyle campus as well as services focused on early childhood development, sports injury prevention, smart parks and community nutrition.
